(Re) Introducing Coach Malone

Malone named as Director of Basketball | Varsity Head Coach.

Paul Malone has been named Byne Christian School’s Director of Basketball. This newly created position underscores Byne’s commitment to enhancing the student experience, with athletics as a crucial part. Malone brings a wealth of experience and success from his previous time as Athletic Director and Varsity Girls coach from 2015 to 2021. Paul is also Byne Alumni from the graduating class of 1998.

About Coach Malone

In his previous stint at Byne Christian School , Paul Malone was the Head Basketball Coach for the Girls’ Junior Varsity and Girls’ Varsity programs for 6 years, where he took them to new heights. During the 2018-19 basketball season, the Varsity Girls went 15-3 and lost in the State Championship game. The next season, Coach Malone guided the Varsity Girls to the State Championship game where they lost in the final seconds. In his last year of coaching, the Varsity Girls made the State Championship and came away with BCS’ first Varsity Girls State Championship since 1997. 

 

Coach Malone also served as BCS’ Athletic Director from 2015-2021. Malone worked relentlessly to revitalize the athletics program and transform culture. His efforts along with other coaches and staff, helped to put Byne back into the regional and state consciousness, while also continuing to honor the Academic and Biblical mission of the school.

 

During his tenure, the athletic department saw tremendous growth. Malone introduced a renewed sense of enthusiasm and excitement around the athletics at Byne with a focused vision to “Strive for Greatness”. He also worked to improve the student-athlete experience, team and individual competitiveness, and made facility upgrades. Malone championed the priority of spiritual development and academics as he spent an enormous amount of time speaking to parents, teachers and counselors to ensure that Byne students are excelling on and off the court.

 

Prior to his time at Byne, Malone spent eight years enlisted in the US Navy (2002-2010), where he went on four deployments to the Persian Gulf in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Malone moved back to his hometown of Albany, Georgia and began working at the Marine Corps Logistics Base (MCLB) Albany where he is still employed today.

 

A native of Albany, Georgia, Malone has a daughter, Bailey who is 20 years old and is a junior at Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College (ABAC) where she is working towards her bachelor’s degree in nursing. Bailey will also return as an Assistant Coach on the Varsity Girl’s Basketball Team this upcoming season.
