Excellence on and off the court.
Byne athletics.
The approach to athletics at Byne Christian School flows naturally from the school’s philosophy of Christian discipleship.
The purpose and intent of our athletic program at BCS is to bring glory to God in athletic competition through our participation and involvement in individual and team sports, and to develop within those who participate the character traits of Jesus Christ. We desire for our athletes to grow physically, mentally, and spiritually by teaching them to think and act like Christ in the competitive arena and to model godly character in their words, their attitudes, and their actions.

Jami Harper
Director of Athletics
Coach Jami Harper serves as Byne Christian School’s Athletic Director, where she brings a wealth of experience, a heart for ministry, and a deep passion for developing student-athletes both on and off the court.
A Kansas native, Coach Harper played collegiate basketball at Butler County Community College and Emporia State University. Her leadership journey began at McConnell Air Force Base, where she spent ten years as Recreation Director and Youth Sports Director. There, she organized teams, activities, and trips, while also coaching instructional basketball and youth sports.
Since relocating to Georgia in 2000, Coach Harper has invested in the Southwest Georgia community through coaching youth league teams, teaching Sunday School, and mentoring countless student-athletes. She first joined the Byne family as an assistant coach for the girls’ basketball program, where her steady leadership and encouragement made an immediate impact. Today, she continues to co-lead the girls’ basketball program while overseeing the school’s entire athletic department.
In addition to her work at Byne, Coach Harper recently retired from the Sowega Council on Aging, where she faithfully served for 20 years as Ministries Coordinator and Program Manager. Her decades of service demonstrate her dependability, compassion, and dedication to making a lasting difference in the lives of others.
Outside of school, Coach Harper serves alongside her husband, Pastor Dan Harper, at Poulan Methodist Church, where she is a choir member, substitute pianist, and Children’s Sunday School teacher. Together, they have one daughter, Traci.
Coach Harper’s leadership continues to strengthen Byne’s athletic program, inspiring students, supporting families, and ensuring that every opportunity in athletics reflects Christ-centered values. We are thankful for her guidance, passion, and vision for the future of Saints athletics.
