Celebrating Coach Bobby Joiner: A Legacy of Service, Faith, and Excellence
At Byne Christian School, we take great pride in honoring individuals who have dedicated their lives to serving God, our school, and the broader community. This year, we are excited to present the 2025 Saint of the Year Award to Coach Bobby Joiner, a man whose legacy continues to inspire generations.
A Lifetime of Dedication
Born and raised in Albany, Georgia, Coach Joiner has lived a life marked by unwavering faith, love for his family, and a commitment to excellence. After graduating from the University of Georgia in 1970 with a BBA and a Master's Degree in Real Estate, he built a remarkable 40-year career as the President of Story Joiner Properties. Alongside his professional achievements, he remained deeply rooted in his community and his faith.
Coach Joiner and his wife, Deborah Giles Joiner, have been married for 53 years. Together, they raised two daughters, Ashlee Butler and Jenna Samples—both proud graduates of Byne Christian School—and are now the joyful grandparents of five grandchildren: Miles, Walker, Emilee, Ellery, and P. After living in Albany for over 60 years, Coach Joiner now resides in Franklin, Tennessee, where he continues to share his love for Christ and inspire others.
A Champion on the Field and Beyond
For 17 years, Coach Joiner devoted himself to teaching and coaching. His leadership here at Byne Christian School guided teams to ten state championships, including five in boys’ baseball, four in girls’ basketball, and one in girls’ softball—a team he coached alongside Coach Futch. These accomplishments reflect not just his expertise in sports but his ability to inspire and mentor young athletes.
A Heart for Ministry
Beyond the field, Coach Joiner has spent over 30 years serving in prison ministry, offering hope and encouragement to those in need. His faith has also taken him on the road, where he served for 17 years as a tour pastor with Newsong and Winter Jam, bringing the message of Christ to countless lives.
As a talented author and artist, he has published four books and released two Christian music albums, further sharing his gifts and testimony with the world.

The Saint of the Year Award plaque reads:
