Baseball season at Byne Christian School is here, and we're proud to introduce the incredible coaching team leading our players to success this year. With years of experience and a passion for the game, these dedicated leaders are ready to make this season unforgettable.

Meet Our Coaching Dream Team

Varsity Baseball Head Coach: Derrick Simon

Coach Simon brings a wealth of experience and a heart for the game to Byne Baseball.
- Raised in Albany, GA, and played at Monroe High School.

- Starred at Albany State University, where he was part of the 1994 SIAC Baseball Championship Team.
- Graduated with a degree in Chemistry.
- Proud father of five, with two sons who played baseball at Kennesaw State University.
- Coach Simon and his wife, Sharon, are excited to join the Byne family and build a winning baseball program.

Varsity Baseball Assistant Coach: Tom Pinson

Coach Pinson is a veteran coach with a career full of accomplishments on and off the field.
- 31 years of baseball coaching experience.

- GISA State Champion in baseball and basketball, and a two-time football state runner-up.
- Former pitcher at Wallace College (Dothan, AL) and Valdosta State University, earning titles such as All-American, South Region Pitcher of the Year, and VSC Male Athlete of the Year.
- Drafted by the New York Mets, he played professionally from 1992-93.
- Certified pitching instructor with expertise in Rapsodo analytics.
- Coach Pinson is also a member of Baconton Methodist Church and father of two sons, one of whom is playing baseball at Kennesaw State University.

Varsity Baseball Assistant Coach: Alan Moree

Coach Moree is a seasoned leader who brings a blend of baseball knowledge and community service.
- Grew up in Camilla, GA, and graduated from Westwood School in 1979.

- Married to Sharon for 41 years, with two sons and four grandchildren.
- Certified Public Accountant and administrator at Allergy and Asthma Clinics of Georgia.
- Byne Church member, deacon, and part of the Byne Christian School Board of Directors.
- Coached youth baseball in Lee County for 12 years and is eager to support Coaches Simon and Pinson in developing our players both on and off the field.

Who Can Join?
- Grades 6-12 are welcome!
- Note: 6th graders must sign a separate GCAA waiver before their first game.
- Make sure your physical is up to date! If you don’t have a current physical on file with Byne, submit it as soon as possible using this link: Submit Physical Here. Paper copies will not be accepted.
